Indeed, editing is a big challenge, and I have experienced it everytime I write my books. A humble observation, and not my opinion - Like it is so well said in these two quotes, and may I quote - "A throne is only a bench covered with velvet.". To elaborate on this also consider the words of poet James Russell Lowell, "Truth -- forever on the scaffold, Wrong -- forever on the throne." - in summation of the what they together mean is what is so well narrated in these words by By Maj. There are others, even friends, who might add to our self-doubts with their own. Fortunately, we can learn from historical examples of those who successfully stood firm to their principles even in the midst of tremendous doubt. It is like an OBE- Out of Body Experience. You have to be taking on an "empathetic" role and a critical one at that to be able to edit your own works.
